THE SITE

The site comprises a golf club covering approximately 55.44 hectares in size, to the north of Southwater bounded on two sides by the A24 and Worthing Road.

The site is located adjacent to an under-utilised sustainable transport hub in the Worthing Road Park & Ride, providing frequent and convenient services into the centre of Horsham within 5 minutes and the train station within 10 minutes.

In addition to Horsham Golf, the site is also home to Horsham Football Club, with a stadium, clubhouse and training facility.

This burgeoning leisure hub, along with the site’s accessibility to Southwater, Horsham and the surrounding area, presents a valuable and unique opportunity to bring forward Horsham Golf & Fitness Village, delivering a new development comprising homes, sports and leisure for the District.

THE STORY SO FAR

Over the last five years Horsham Golf & Fitness Village have sought to work collaboratively with local sports clubs, charities, and educational institutions, alongside the Council, to address the District’s identified need for new facilities.

We have undertaken this extensive and ongoing engagement exercise whilst taking part in the emerging Horsham Local Plan process. Our public engagement has allowed us to gather feedback from the public and other key stakeholders and evolve our plans to best meet local needs. Our site is immediately deliverable during a time in which many sites in the district are restrained by water neutrality. As such, we are proceeding with an outline application in order to bring forward the much-needed sporting proposals and housing which will facilitate this.

Our engagement with local sports clubs and charities has led to new partnerships, including the Hop Oast Area Sport Committee and has helped us shape our proposals by providing new facilities for Horsham Hockey Club, The Golf College and Warren Clark Golfing Dreams. This engagement has also allowed us to identify a long-term strategic partnership with Horsham Football Club.

Additionally, Horsham Golf & Fitness Village have long engaged with political stakeholders and local representatives. Since the initial Call for Sites, we have engaged extensively with members of Horsham District Council and Southwater Parish Council and have ensured that members were kept up to date on the latest developments of the site and given the chance to have their say.
